  1. SWEDISH SCENE

  8. ¹The  Swedish  scene has never been the
  9. best  around  ,  but  it has certainly
  10. been  better than it is now!  A couple
  11. of  years  ago,  we  had  groups  like
  12. Phenomena,  Silents and Dual Crew, all
  13. active  and  all  more  or less elite.
  14. What  do we have now?  Well, there are
  15. always  Razor  1911  and Rage, but are
  16. there ANY other groups that are active
  17. and elite?  Nope.  There are different
  18. people  who  are  very skilled indeed,
  19. but they're all members of groups that
  20. can't  put  a  single  demo  together.
  21. Examples   of   skilled,   active  but
  22. misplaced guys are D-Dsign/Virtual and
  23. Trionic/Therapy,  that  both belong to
  24. the  absolute elite but aren't able to
  25. release   anything   due  to  inactive
  26. groups.

  28. ³           No  GOOD  demos 
  29. ¹
  30. I can count the GOOD demos from Sweden
  31. this   year   on   one  hand,  because
  32. actually  there has been just one.  Of
  33. course there have been lots of average
  34. demos,    and   even   more   of   the
  35. below-average    demos,    but    just
  36. ½'Memorial  Songs'¹  has belonged to the
  37. absolute   top(correct   me   if   I'm
  38. wrong!).

  40. ²Rage¹  has  released  three demos since
  41. May, but they have hardly kept average
  42. standard.
  43. ¶²Illusion¹(now  ³Razor 1911¹) released one
  44. trackmo(½'Waterproof'¹)  that  was a bit
  45. over   average   speaking   about  the
  46. coding,  but  neither  the graphics or
  47. the   music   kept  average  standard.
  48. Anyway,  I know that these guys are up
  49. to something extra right now, so let's
  50. hope it will be better.

  52. ²Infect¹ has a very skilled coder called
  53. Exidor,  but  he's a golden example of
  54. the  guys  that are misplaced. ²Infect¹
  55. does   neither   have   the   talented
  56. graphicians  or  musicians  that are a
  57. must   for   an  Elite-group.   Exidor
  58. should  have won the intro-competition
  59. at  ECC,  but Yodel had the good taste
  60. to  include a 'Kill Fascism'-sign that
  61. collected quite a few votes.

  63. Where  are  ²D.C.S¹?  Both Dual Crew and
  64. Shining  have  members that could take
  65. over  the  Swedish  scene totally, but
  66. they  haven't  released  anything  for
  67. ages, and probably won't either(if not
  68. here  at  party  III?).  I still can't
  69. see the reason why two talented(though
  70. inactive)  teams should sign up in one
  71. even  more inactive??  Many members of
  72. ex.    Shining  have  outspoken  their
  73. dislike  of the merge, but have stayed
  74. since  they didn't want to leave their
  75. old  friends.   Many have more or less
  76. quit the scene, whether this has to do
  77. with  the  merge  or not is not clear,
  78. but it's a damn pity!

  80. ²Virtual¹  has  got  some  very  skilled
  81. dudes on hands and should soon release
  82. their  musicdisk  with music from Alf,
  83. ¶who  reached the second place at Party
  84. II  and  TCC.  This musicdisk has been
  85. planned for almost 1 1/2 year and have
  86. been   changed  entirely  many  times.
  87. Let's  hope  it will be released soon!
  88. Their  intros  have  been very nice so
  89. far,  but  why can't they do more?  By
  90. the  way, rumours say that they earned
  91. quite   a   lot   of   cash  from  the
  92. ECC-party, but that they couldn't help
  93. it  since they didn't notice it before
  94. it  was  too late to change the prices
  95. again..

  97. ²X-trade¹  was  actually one of the best
  98. groups  in the beginning of this year,
  99. but they lost all their active members
  100. and only released one intro this year!

  102. Right  now,  the Swedish is one of the
  103. worst scenes around, when it should be
  104. the  other  way  around.   It  can  be
  105. changed, but it probably won't be.  If
  106. Razor  can  stay  together, it will be
  107. the  most  active  and  the  best team
  108. 1994.   No team won the 1993 award for
  109. best  Swedish  group, because none was
  110. even nominated!
